I took an understanding that Rapping existed from all the way back to the 60's and 70's to present. Melvin Van Peebles has got to have some credit even though he wasn't really known to some people. He had success with his 1971 movie "Sweetback's Baadassss Song". Quasimoto samples his recordings whcih he makes it dope by flipping the beat to something else.
